Baker District Option bill eyed by governor to reduce saloons
The Baker District Option bill would limit saloons to one per 250 residents and grant districts with 100 to 720 people power to block licenses, requiring a majority remonstrance. It would not affect licenses in force as of June 1, 1907 unless licenses drop out. A separate measure proposes raising the maximum to 200 licenses in towns and villages. Low round trip fares to Pacific Coast cities offered by Chicago Union Pacific North Western lines with various June and July travel windows and stopover options.
