Bathesque Bathroom Scene Orbits a Betrothal
In Bath a lively salon comedy unfolds where Mistress Kitty Bellairs and Lord Verney escalate a playful engagement into a formal betrothal. Amid sharp wit and social satire, Verney publicly proclaims intent to wed Bellairs to his aunt Lady Maria Prideaux, triggering a cascade of gossip, warnings, and mixed affections as Kitty contemplates her future and the price of status.
