Wisconsin Central sale rumors stir regional rail talk

Rumors claim Pere Marquette may buy Wisconsin Central stock as Boston interests, Goulds, and Rockefellers watch the deal. Market reports show Central stock near 20, with possible 30 preferred. The line links Chicago, Milwaukee, Manitowoc and feeds milling products toward the seaboard. Tragic Fatality At Work Claims Unity Youth

Anton Schoenemann nineteen of Unity died after a logging accident at camp No 2. While felling a large tree the butt struck him as it fell pinning him against another tree. He was taken to the city and died en route. The body rests at George W Upham’s funeral home. He left a wife.

Rural routes eyed as Postal Service holds exam

Special Agent T. 4. Kittridge of the Postal Department is in the city to organize two new rural delivery routes out of the post office. A free carrier exam will be held January 18 at 10 a.m. Applicants must bring pen ink and blotter and be ready to name a substitute. Route No 1 already shows benefits to farming districts and the city, with no expected office closures.

Nasonville Woman Dies After Long Illness At 48

Mrs Donald McKercher longtime Nasonville resident dies at home after stomach cancer battled since May. She came to the area in 1870 married Donald McKercher, mother of six, with daughters Laura Downer Ada Brooks Leonor de Mercer and sons John Elmer Alex. Funeral at Nasonville church Saturday. Royal Neighbors attended her illness. Warrant issued in adultery case hearing adjourned to 19th

John Austin and Mrs Geldenech of Chili faced city hall hearings on adultery charges. A new joint complaint warrants a fresh hearing set for Tuesday the 19th at 2 pm. District Attorney Braveau leads the case for the late, with Hon. F. B. A. Cady of Grand Rapids for the defense.
