PLAN CITIZENS TICKET OFFER FOR CITY ELECTION
City committees meet to gauge voter sentiment on a nonpartisan citizens ticket to save primary costs. Forty support the plan, five abstain. A special committee of Hamilton Roddis Frank Lueckenbach and Robert Connor will form ward subcommittees to nominate candidates. If plans fail some may file as independents. The Hotel Thomas under S S Clark adds arches, open dining doors and 200 yards of carpet as upgrades.

Forgery convict sentenced to two years at Waupun
Nicholas Winiewski of near Edgar was found guilty of forgery in Wausau last week. Judge Silverthorm denied a new trial and sentenced him to two years at Waupun. He faces another possible trial for a $400 forgery against E C Porg of Warsaw. Meanwhile, Company A, 2nd Regiment, orders all members to armory drills February 24 and 28 and to bring all state property by February 24. Absent members may be discharged by Captain Otto Meyer.

City to Appeal Water Plant Case to Supreme Court
At a Saturday meeting the common council authorized the city attorney to appeal the circuit court decision in the water and light purchase case and carry the matter to the supreme court. Ayes included Ames Marbes Finney Butter Kamps Bauman. Reynolds Wendt Harti Fiche opposed. W. H. Upham’s co defendant paid half the appeal costs. Judge Pors supported the appeal against delays.

The Normal basketball team defeated Marshfield High 84 to 10 in a Friday contest noted for solid teamwork and lack of sensational play. Sparks starred with seven baskets, while Witt struggled scoring for Marshfield. Referee was Prof. Fish. umpire George Everson.
