At a mass meeting in city hall a five member committee was appointed to draft by laws for a chamber of commerce or improvement association in Marshfield. The group aims to promote city welfare and attract manufacturing concerns to locate there, leveraging railroad access and skilled labor.

Fares Reduced to 2 Cents Per Mile in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Railroad Commission ordered passenger fares cut to 2% cents per mile. Railroads accepted the decision, relieved that 2 cents a mile was not lower. The commission also urged issuing family mileage books of 100 miles for $10, at 2 cents per mile.
