Death of Civil War Veteran Michael Oudinot

Michael Oudinot, Civil War veteran and former U S sailor aged 74, died at his son Robert’s home after a four month illness. Survived by his wife, five sons, one daughter. services held at 10:30 a m Monday with Elk Lodge affiliation and Abbotsford interment. Oudinot’s life included naval service on the Roanoke and Susquehan, service in the 107th Pennsylvania and the Army of the Potomac, and involvement with Commodore Perry’s Japan embassy voyage in 1860. His obituary notes a distinguished, eventful career and a cherished medal from the Japanese embassy voyage.

Marshfield High Defeats Stevens Point Normal 25 to 19

Marshfield High School basketball repeated a victory over Stevens Point Normal, defeating them 25 to 19 at their gym. The win capped a two game sweep, with strong defense and team play. next Friday they travel to Stevens Point for another challenging matchup in a cramped gym.

Tax Roll Ready Dec 31 City Tax Rates and Fees

City Treasurer C S Vedder has received the 1907 tax rolls and will begin collecting taxes on Monday Dec 30 Under the new law collection fees are charged after January 1 at 2 percent on all unpaid taxes The tax rate is 2 29 per 100 with an advance of 10 cents per hundred over last year
