Death of Civil War Veteran Michael Oudinot
Michael Oudinot, Civil War veteran and former U S sailor aged 74, died at his son Robert’s home after a four month illness. Survived by his wife, five sons, one daughter. services held at 10:30 a m Monday with Elk Lodge affiliation and Abbotsford interment. Oudinot’s life included naval service on the Roanoke and Susquehan, service in the 107th Pennsylvania and the Army of the Potomac, and involvement with Commodore Perry’s Japan embassy voyage in 1860. His obituary notes a distinguished, eventful career and a cherished medal from the Japanese embassy voyage.
