Promoters with a prosperous inland plant plan a canning factory here to process peas for the general market. They will grow seed peas locally, hire farmers and families, and use an automatic picker. Experts say the venture could become a regional success benefiting the city and farming district. The bank has added an electric alarm to protect the vault and improve security.

Bank Ready to Move into Central Avenue Headquarters

The First National Bank building on Central Avenue nears completion after months of repairs. Officials plan to move next week into newly remodeled and expanded quarters touted as among Wisconsin’s finest. The lobby doubles in size, circular tile floors extend to waiting rooms and directors’ area, with mahogany fixtures and curved cashiers’ windows.

School Board Convention in Grand Rapids Set for January 7 1908

Wood County holds its third Annual School Board Convention at the County Training School Building in Grand Rapids on Tuesday January 7 1908. State Rural School Inspector L. W. Wood and Stevens Point State Normal President J. F. Sims will address attendees. All school officers urged to attend. enrollment at 10 30 a m and certificates of attendance to be awarded after the afternoon session.

Must Keep the Peace Emile Fitz Held on Peace Warrant

Emile Fitz a 20 year old Polander from Nekoosa faced Judge Hahn on a peace warrant. Bonds set at 200 dollars for six months toward all Wisconsin residents and specifically toward Gust Jek, alleged target of Fitz. The case follows reports from the Wisconsin Valley Leader detailing rumors of embezzling intent and attempted coercion involving local mill workers and the Jek family.
