Pioneer farmer Mr. Foster dies at Marshfield after long illness
Mortimer Foster, aged about 88, pioneer farmer and longtime Marshfield resident, died after a prolonged illness. Born in Antwerp New York on November 28 18xx he and his family moved westward in the 1830s. He built a varied career from hotelkeeping to farming and grocery retail before helping run the Tremont House in Val City with his sons. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with Revered Rollo Branch delivering the tribute.
