Excessive July Heat Bakes City as Week’s Heatwave Persists
The past week and the receding days have been scorchered with intense day and night heat. No fatal heat-related incidents reported in Marshfield this year, though many sleepless nights and scarce cooler sleeping spaces emerged. Factory work continued with little interruption, as residents improvised beds and tents on porches and yards to stay cool. Temperature readings from July 10 to July 80 show sustained high levels, with city heat likely 4-5 degrees hotter than the Wood County experiment station due to brick streets and building heat absorption.
