Death of Rob Roy DeGroff at 28 Interred in Alma
Rob Roy DeGroff died Monday night at his mother's home after heart trouble and nervous collapse. Born in Alma on May 25 1878 he moved to Marshfield in 1891 and worked in his father's printing business and later as foreman of the Marshfield News. Survivors include his mother Mrs DeGroff sister Mrs Cole and brother Fred DeGroff. Interment will be in Alma Wisconsin, with services at his home led by Rev Postlethwaite prior to departure on the Wisconsin Central at 6 15 Wednesday evening.

Soldier Boys Return From Camp Douglas Shooting Meet
Company A leads the regiment with a 1000 point advantage after a grueling camp week. The Marshfield unit arrived at 3 15 pm with the Second Regiment Band and staff, marching to their hall in civilian dress. Eight men qualified for the regimental team and three locals hoped to join the state team at Sea Girt New Jersey for national rifle matches under the National Board and NRA.

Elks Lose In Eau Claire Note Visit From Traveling Men
The Elk baseball team traveled to Eau Claire last Saturday, meeting the UC T traveling men in an afternoon game. Despite a spirited effort, the Elks fell 10 to 5 after nine innings, with a large crowd watching. Eleven Elks represented Marshfield, and Eau Claire lodge members hosted them with a grand reception, a lodge dinner and smoker, and escorts to the train. A return game is planned soon, promising a hearty welcome for northern Elks and their companions.

Excavating New Well to Boost City Water Supply
A crew under Supt Dorschel will dig a new twenty five foot diameter well at the water works to increase supply. After completion the old well will be cleaned and repaired. He also proposes a pond or artificial lake as a reserve, with city grounds improved if feasible.

A judge on a cavalcade stopped at a tavern in Poniatowski where his travel stained coat attracted a dog. The dog bit the judge by the arm as the coat was removed and hidden, ending the incident with a reunited friendship.
