A Paris based rumor ties German aims in the Caribbean to Cuba, while Spain reports cholera outbreaks across its provinces and major ports. A mob of about one hundred fifty white miners at Rock Springs Wyoming forced Chinese workers from the town after firing a volley and burning 39 company houses. Four hundred Chinamen in the area fled to hills as seven were killed and many wounded. Sheriffs and officials moved to protect towns, while unions and state authorities prepared to quell further violence.
