Struck on the Reef Three Vessels Driven Ashore Near Chicago

A severe late autumn storm drives three ships ashore off Evanston near Chicago. The John Emory Owen and two schooner-barges Michigan and Elizabeth A Nicholson carry crews of 16, 8, and 8 respectively. Lifesavers rescue all mariners amid heavy seas. total property loss around 200000 dollars. No lives lost though damages to nearby factories and vessels are reported across Louisville and Indiana.

All Light in Street Cars Snowbound on Calumet Line

Passengers on the Calumet Electric street railroad were snowbound in a dus tlaw portion of the city Monday night. Car No 17 stalled at 70th street at 10 p m and remained until yesterday with five passengers aboard. Others on the Seventh and Fort street lines near Stony Island avenue, South Chicago avenue and Ninety-fourth street, and near sixty-seventh street and Vernon avenue spent the night in their cars. Some left to walk home while others stayed aboard to weather the storm.

Windstorm Rips Through Indianapolis For Eight Hours

Indianapolis endured an eight hour wind assault described as the strongest in twenty five years. Strong structures trembled as buildings toppled, trees uprooted, and power outages persisted from 10 PM until daylight. Residents huddled indoors as streets filled with debris and fear.

State prison riot and Detroit doll show noted

A prison riot at Jackson left Deputy Worden Northrup injured and guards strained as convicts clashed after threats to report a worker. In Detroit, St Paul’s Ladies Guild hosts a large doll show at Whitney Music Hall with thousands of dolls, booths and seasonal displays drawing crowds of the wealthy and fashionable.

Thanksgiving Turkey Theft Reported in Rochester

Charles C Whippert reported a theft of a sixteen pound Thanksgiving turkey by a bloomy lady on a bicycle. He chased her from Chill avenue to the street corner where she mounted a bike and rode away. The pursuit ended with no capture.

Railway Wreck in New Mexico Hurts Twelve Passengers

A derailed collision east of Shoemaker New Mexico between an eastbound flyer and a freight train left about twelve passengers seriously injured. Engineer Bourne and a postal worker are missing. Injured were taken to Las Vegas hospital as wrecking crews began clearing 600 feet of torn track.
