A tumultuous report from Marquette details ore trimmers threatening a work stoppage over wage advances. An organized group of Pittsburgh steel plant skilled workers seeks higher pay and unified rates, amid dock foreman changes and new hiring to replace striking crews.
A fragmentary report notes the Damagous Association of America formed by about one thousand workers including steel molders rollers and hammermen not connected with the Amalgamated association. Officers to be elected Thursday night and strikers in Chicago claim union yards shutdown will push brickmakers to join boycotts while non-union yards face competition. The report also cites a May 8 meeting in Orromwa Iowa where a socialist plank was rejected by the Jews State Federation of Labor amid heated debate on practicalities and union representation.

Washington anticipated a full ministerial commission, while Hastings remained a recognized, favored intermediary with Hawaiian authorities. A separate dispatch reports a new religious sect forming in Zatns Mo led by Rev Jon Shrader, claiming an angel delivers messages. Shrader seeks a modern code via headquarters.
