Remarkable centenarian couple in Wayne county tale

May 14 reports a remarkable couple, Henry Aurand aged about 86 and his wife, living on their Wayne county farm. He works daily, she manages the home, and they have enjoyed a long life filled with temperate living. Other items note local births, school events, a serious accident to a two year old, ice cream socials, and community activities across Marshall and surrounding towns.

Killed by Fall on West LeRoy Farm

Albert Taylor a well known pioneer and farmer of West LeRoy was found dead Monday morning by his son Herbert on his farm. He lay with his logs in the doorway of the barn his face to the ground. He was 60 and prone to epileptic fits. Officials suspect a seizure caused his fall wedging him between stones at the gravel path near the barn entrance.

Pottowatomie Indian payments planned this month

The distribution of 3,141,626 due to the Pottowatomie Indians, with about 270 members in Athens, will be made this month. Each is expected to receive around 2,546.76, with a new permanent annuity of 843,000 replacing 2,080 annually. Payments likely around early July. Attorney John Critcher was allowed 3,36,536 in counsel fees.

Toledo Firm Promises One Hundred Dollar Reward for Catarrh Cure

Frank J. Cheney as senior partner of F. J. Cheney & Co. sworn that the Toledo firm will pay one hundred dollars for each catarrh case not cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Notary public A W Gleason attested December 6, 1896. The remedy is said to act on blood and mucous surfaces and testimonials are claimed free. Hall's Family Pills also advertised.
