Schuples Colfax died suddenly January 13 in Mankato Minnesota. Born March 23 1823 in New York City he worked as clerk and editor before rising to U S congressman and Speaker of the House He guided postal reform and westward mail expansion, supported Lincoln and Grant and died at South Bend Indiana with about 120000 dollars.
