Marshallites Visit Devil's Lake Shipwreck Rescue Story

A Marshall town party toured Devil's Lake and rode a steamboat tide. The boat hit a sandbar four miles from the picnic grounds, stranding the party but they were landed safely. A wagon and horses cost $1 to return the group to the grounds. The piece also notes rail excursion tickets to Toledo for the Tri-State Fair, a rumor about a local altercation, Doc Snyder's bee attack at Battle Creek reunion, a carriage incident near Marshall injuring horses and driver, and schooling staff for the next year plus an art painting of Mayor Wag Dor’s horses by J.
