A scanned article traces the history of early US coinage from 1787 to 1793, detailing designs of the Unity State Cent, Washington cents, and related issues with notes on dies by Peter Getz, Philadelphia striking, and varying reverses. It contrasts English origins, dates, and inscriptions, then shifts to unrelated health and temperance anecdotes.
The excerpt describes silver and copper coins or medals with eye and rays designs, legends like Nova Constellatio and Libertas Justitia, dates such as 1783 and 1784, and variants including the Washington busts. It notes small and large pieces, odd reverses, French origin hints, and classifies pieces as money or medals.
The article describes varieties of Constellation pieces with reverse Roman script letters, noting denominations absent on silver pieces and dates like 1786 and 1785. It mentions variants such as “Rome rare combinations,” immunist Columbia 1785 90, and a right hand extended design. It also covers impressions from dies in silver and copper with edge inscriptions, and two dies with a smaller bead on the obverse known as the smallhead Washington, with uncertainty about the Precediae paragraph.
A dated mix of anecdotes on observation from a Southern planter and hired laborers, plus Dr Holmes unpublished verse recounted by Boston publishers. It includes a brief quip about overwatching, a tale of a chore boy recalling a rhyme, and stray curiosities about a wedding procession and a preacher’s levity.
The Burlington Route announces Harvest Excursion tickets from principal stations on Tuesdays September 23 and October 14 with fare discounts to western and northern farming regions. Also includes a joke about a Belfast parrot that swears at passersby and a note from W H Griffin of Jackson, Michigan, praising a catarrh cure. Additional items mention sewing machine history, Dobbin's Electric Soap, and a Fort Worth- Denison wagon anecdote.
Disjointed lines describe a gaggle of speakers including a father figure and a second in command reacting to an awkward disgrace. Vague references to outfits and abilities hint at a dramatic moment. Readable names and quotes are sparse, providing little clear event or setting details.
Fragmented ad text extols various tonics and cures from syrup blends to worm remedies and soap. Mentions California Syrup Company and Dr Pierce pills as praised treatments. Vague references to humor and literature lines appear amid product pitches and a Ben Johnson pun.
