Turgenella's Body Delays Amid Frontierside Fracas
An informant recalls how the funeral train carrying Turgenell's remains faced Russian frontier resistance. A gendarme tried to seize control, detaining the body to Monday and relegating it to a shed full of animals. Stasulevitch protested, the village priest intervened, and the body was eventually moved to the church sanctuary. The priest later secured the keys to the train platform, averting further sacrilege and ensuring a proper procession to St. Petersburg.

Funeral Train Crowds Cause Stir and Gendarmes Lose Brief Control
A crowd gathered along the funeral train route from Stasulovitch to St Petersburg as the coffin rested in a side-open wagon. Clergy conducted services at stations while gendarmes struggled to enforce order. To avoid delays the conductor resisted blowing the whistle, and a risky ploy involved a girl kissed by the crowd to appease them.
