United Way Campaign Gets a Boost from Oaklawn Hospital
Oaklawn Hospital employees pledged 8109 and counting for 2002 at the United Way Kick Off breakfast at Schuler's in Marshall. Janis Lancaster of State Farm announced a 50000 goal and a total pledge of 54000, with Oaklawn workers exceeding their 5000 target as pledge cards continue arriving.

Marshall Board Accepts Settlement on Redskins Nickname
On the fourth vote of the night the Marshall School Board accepted a negotiated settlement ending the Redskins nickname. High School teams will go two years without a nickname and may not use Red skins unless agreed by Linda Cypret-Kilbourne and the Civil Rights Commission. The district agrees not to sue over the nickname and to curb harassment. a Diversity seminar will be held with optional staff attendance.
