Tarr to Step Down From Marshall City Council After 13 Years
Kathy Tarr announced during a Monday council meeting she will not seek re election to Marshall’s 3rd District seat in November. The only woman on the council since Amy Shakey’s departure, Tarr has been a fierce defender of the historic community and served as Mayor Pro Tem three times. She said her time is up and hopes a successor can begin planning to run.

Brewer Street Reconstruction Approved for Summer and Fall
Marshall City Council approved a street reconstruction on Brewer Street with a total cost just over half a million dollars. An MDOT grant covers 375 000 dollars while the city pays 269 400 dollars. The plan includes storm sewer work concrete curb and gutter new base and bituminous pavement plus a west side parking lane. Tree removal along the east side from Mansion Street to North Kalamazoo is due to storm sewer installation with 60 percent of removed trees in decline health replacement trees to be planted after completion. Low bid 52 086.14 by Hoffman Brothers of Battle Creek. Beginning this summer.
