Veteran Robert Lyng and newcomer Sam Ramon won decisive seats, while recall outcomes felled Carrer Harlow and Rhodes. A 18 mil levy for operation renewal led the ballot with strong support.
Construction at Hughes Elementary moves quickly since March eighteen as the Marshall School District completes a multi million dollar modernization. A new elementary school behind Marshall High is planned to replace Shearman School with Gordon and Hughes receiving gymnasiums and interior renovations. The unnamed new elementary is slated for completion in fall 2003 after summer work and site donations from Dick Walter and wife.
Marshall plans for July Fourth include a Pet and Bicycle Parade at 10:00 a.m. a Chicken Barbecue for seven dollars in advance eight on the day and an Ice Cream Social. Tickets are sold at Chemical Bank Shoreline Feipausch Darling's Winston Park Shell and the Chamber office.
The Marshall Community Band kicks off its summer season with a free 7 PM concert at Cronin Park behind Marshall Middle School. Guest trumpet virtuoso Ed Zentera, Battle Creek ties, plus Medleys from Webber and musicals, light selections, and Gershwin Yoder opener headline the program.
