First Methodist Church to Celebrate 125 Years
Members and guests of the First Methodist Church of Marshall will observe this milestone on Sunday September 25. Following Sunday school at Nine thirty and church at ten thirty there will be a pot lie dinner with drinks furnished by the Woman's Society of Christian Service. After dinner Basil Moore will lead a brief program including guest introductions and a history review by Mrs Louise Cork. The building will be open in the afternoon for visiting. Mrs Leoni Fitzfarrald and Mrs Herman Miller are planning coordinators.

Rainfall Record Reported At Marshall Area

The 36th annual reunion of the 4th Illinois 180th Infantry Veterans will be held in Effingham Illinois on September 24 and 25. Forty years ago in 1926 Clarksville saw the Baptist church completed at a cost over $13000 funded by members. The issue lists marriage licenses for several couples including James Barker and Effie Cox, Thomas Phillips and Agnes Doran, Isaac Swim and Irene Swim, plus Marshall Herald and Harry Boecker. A boy from Wabash town broke his right arm and a social hamblinger fry was held at Dorothy Dean’s home with guests named.

City Council Approves Easement and Bids for City Projects
The September 12 regular city council session led by Mayor Wayne Pennell authorized an easement and deed with Dean English for road access and a sewer disposal site. Bids for motor fuel oil for 1966 67 were opened from Standard Oil Marathon Harpers D X and Clark Service with Marathon and D X the low bids. The council approved the Marathon Oil bid and authorized bond issuance for water and sewer improvements. A plan to remodel the metering station east of town was discussed with Glazier Construction Co to perform work under a $2500 cap. Livestock, parking controls, and traffic signs near the high school received approval. City decorations were purchased from General Plastics Corp for 2500 with others to be ordered early to secure a 22 percent discount.
