Casey Man Missing From St Louis Visit
Dr William W Bruce 75 of Casey Illinois vanished after visiting Charles Sturdevant at 1430 Temple Place. He and his wife shopped downtown Monday and at 5 0 clock waited for a car at Seventh Street and Washington Avenue. Mrs Bruce said he told her to wait and would return, but he did not come back and no word has been heard. Police were asked to search yesterday.

Farm House Burned. Loss About 1500 In City Suburb
Fire destroyed a farm residence belonging to Robert Nightlinger east of the city on Saturday night. The building and contents were lost, the family was away at the street fair, and the loss is estimated at 1500 with 1200 insured. Schools opened Monday with 410 enrolled, 185 in the South Side and 225 in the North Side. A pickpocket from Wabash township stole 45 dollars at the Paris fair last Thursday.

Automobile Thief Caught After High Speed Theft
A young man stole a seven passenger Oldsmobile from C. L. Bradley of Taylorville, changed the license numbers, and led Sheriff Gallatin’s deputy on a pursuit reaching 58 mph near the Ohio schoolhouse. He surrendered after being threatened with a gun. Decatur officers later took him into custody.

Labor Day Tennis Tournament Draws Nine Town Teams
The Tennis Association of the Ohio Oil Company held its labor day event in Marshall with nineteen teams from eastern Illinois and western Indiana. Play began at ten, but darkness halted finals. Davis and Rogers of Hume and Ross and Haring of Terre Haute led in one set apiece when stopped. Final match likely at Paris soon. Courts praised as finest in the region, though rain slowed speed. Visiting players hope to return next year.

Obituary of Sarah Margaret Sears
Sarah Margaret Sears born October 19 1826 died September 6 1914. She moved from Kentucky to Illinois at 19 and lived there the rest of her life. She married Jacob Sears in 1850 and had five children, two deceased, one son and three daughters surviving. Surviving grandchildren number 14 and one great grandchild. She joined Missionary Baptist at 18 near Frankfort Kentucky and later Clarks ville Baptist church in 1865, a devout Christian who sought to help others.
