John Lovell 74 died from injuries after being struck while returning a borrowed lantern down a steep incline near Marshall. Templé R. Lovett showcased his ten head Holstein herd across Harrisburg McLeansboro Robinson Martinsville Greenup Newton Bridgeport Mt. Carmel Mt. Vernon and Benton. The prize herd earned 2133 dollars in first prizes and 1278 dollars in other competition among 265 cattle. A Clarkcoill Farms yearling bull from the herd won grand champion bull eight times and females won six grand championships. Individually the herd collected one fifth nine thirds forty three seconds and fifty nine prizes during exhibition.

Herman Little has sold his Main Street restaurant to H. H. Chapman of Terre Haute. Chapman took possession Tuesday morning and will reside in Marshall. His father Bell Chapman was born in Marshall and their old home is the Barton-Irwin house on East Main Street.

Boy Forged Check At O Hair Oil Station
Ralph Johns and an unidentified man in a Ford visited the O Hair filling station Sunday and bought four gallons of gasoline. Johns paid with a $1 Marshall State Bank check signed by Hebe Jones, which Reynolds said had no account there. Authorities traced the license number, caught the pair Monday, and Johns was bound over to circuit court for forgery after a Tuesday hearing.

SHUMAKER BARN BURNS WITH Losses Estimated at Two Thousand
Edgar Shumaker saw his barn and thirty tons of hay in Thompson’s storage burn after a spontaneous blaze Saturday around 10. A carowned by Shumaker was destroyed. The 32 by 35 by 37 foot barn suffered about two thousand dollars damage with only eleven hundred dollars insurance.
