Miss Diane Taylor and Steve Allen Thompson wed September 20 at First Christian Church in Marshall. Rev John Jones Sr. officiated a candlelit double ring ceremony with organ music and floral arrangements. The couple plans to reside on Route 4 in Marshall after a wedding trip to Gallinburg Tennessee.
The Jaycee Welcomettes greet Marshall newcomers including Darrell Huey and family from Jupiter Florida with three children at 1115 Archer Avenue. Other arrivals include Harley Bennet from Peoria, Estel Ucklenburg from Bellville, Alvin Beltz from Darwin and Pauline Daugherty from Westfield, among others with notes on occupations and spouses.
The Triple-T 4 H Club held its September 29 gathering electing Randy Medsker as president Greg Strohm as vice president Leslie Douglas as secretary and treasurer Robert Miller Joyce Stoelting and Ronnie Beard as recreation leaders Roger Williams and Renee Mickler as song leaders Doug Strohm as reporter Refreshments were provided by Renee and Jerry Mickler Mrs Ralph W Prevo is very ill in the Carl Clinic at Champaign.
Four young men from Clark County face three counts of property damage after driving a car through corn fields in York township. Gregory Lee Clark 20 Michael G Clark 19 Phillip Jankston 17 and Earl Joseph Bridgewater Jr 18 appeared before Judge Caslon Bennett with bond set at 3500 each. The fields damaged belonged to Orvil Burman Dennis Leonard Daugherty and Donald and Helen Drake.
Friday night the sophomores hosted freshmen with games and toasted marshmallows. The district reports marriage licenses for Jacob Parky and Nell Broadhurst and Charles E. Reeds and Martha Health. J T Connelly and 15 agri culture students will travel to St Louis for a National Dairy Show drama contest. The school band performs Monday and the team presents Beating the Sheriff to Farmer Brown with players listed. A new trophy case was installed, donated by J F Hornbrook after a Westfield visit.
Marriage licenses list Russell Meeker and Ruby Carr both of Yale Illinois and James Myer of Robinson Illinois with Wilhelmenia Daily of Robinson. Clyde E Bradley and Mary Ellen Valentine wed at St Peter and Paul Cathedral Indianapolis. Mr and Mrs H B Johnson of Robinson announce birth of son William Barr born Monday weighing eight pounds thirteen ounces.
Twenty years ago the Clark County Post 90 American Legion bought land east of Marshall, known as the Marshall Golf Course, planning to run and expand it with picnic grounds and a future club house. Also noted are USO chairmen appointment, marriage notices, and newborns in West Union, Marshall, and nearby areas with dates and names.
Mrs. Don Smitley entertained on Sunday evening with a Kitchen Shower honoring Miss Beckie Smitley, who will wed Lewi Richards of Ann Arbor Michigan on October 18. Gift givers listed include Mrs. Helen Smittey and others who could not attend.
Dennison United Methodist Church hosts homecoming on October 12 with worship at 9:30, Sunday school at 10:15, basket dinner at noon, and a 2 PM program featuring guest speaker Rev. H. H. Daugherty. All welcome to attend.
A western Jack Pot horse show is set for Sunday October 12 at 12 30 PM in the McCoy arena Vermilion Illinois. Refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome.

The Clark County Historical Society sponsors an Antique Show in Marshall at the high school gym on October 11 and 12. Twenty five licensed dealers from Illinois and Indiana will offer items for sale with a donation requested for entry. Proceeds fund Clark County Museum restoration.
Truman Murphy age 64 of 202 Hickory Street Marshall died Monday at Paris Community Hospital after a long illness. He was a Lions Club member and Clark County Fair Board, born June 28, 1905 in Clark County. Survived by wife Opal Kirchner, a daughter Betty Myers, a son William Murphy, two grandchildren and a brother Harry. Funeral Thursday at Marrs Funeral Home, Rev H J Kemp officiating. Burial in Marshall cemetery. Lori Beth Clatfelter died at two days old in West York. Grandparents Harold and Mrs Clatfelter and Charles Kibler noted. Private graveside service at Marshall cemetery, Rev Olen Clarida officiated. Prust Hosch Funeral Chapel in charge.
The Marshall Lions Club celebrated its 25th anniversary by honoring eight charter members who received twenty five year pins. Dale Greffe district governor presented the pins and the club, founded in 1944, highlighted Lionism as a civic and charitable force.

Miss Ruth Carpenter daughter of Eugene and Gladys Carpenter wed Robert White son of Mr and Mrs Carl White on September 10 at the First Methodist Church. Rev Clyde Gammer Waite officiated the ceremony. The bride wore a street length white satin dress with white lace and a seed pearl crown, carried blue carnations and wore blue satin slippers. Mrs Carrie Gill was matron of honor and Edward Chapman was best man. The bride is a Paris high school graduate and works for Amway. the groom is a Marshall high school graduate employed at Standard Service Station in Chrisman. they reside in Chrisman.
The Marshall school system announces dismissal on Wednesday October 8 at 2 pm for curriculum study. October 10 includes teacher attendance events and a board of education meeting. American Education Week runs November 9 to 15 with community visits encouraged.

A daughter Shelly Jane weighing six pounds fourteen ounces born at Paris Hospital Sunday to Mr and Mrs Robert Grieve of Marshall named Shelly Jane. Mr and Mrs James Taylor welcome a baby girl Cindy born September twenty weighing six pounds. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs John Bearhan and Mr and Mrs George Fayler Sr.
The Clark County group met at the White Barn on October 4 for a fall luncheon with 36 attendees the largest since organizing Zola Wolfe presided and officers were listed Irene Cline became president and Bertha Kammacher joined as membership chair with a focus on House Bill 868 aiding retired teachers.
Miss Martha Ellen Thornsburg of Brookings Oregon married Private Michael Alfred Tribus of Brookings Oregon on September 25. Thornsburg, a 1969 Marshall high school graduate, attended Fasten Traois University. Tribus, a 1968 Brookings Harbor high school graduate, serves in the US Army. Jack Davidson, coach at Park Forest Illinois, visited his parents Don Davidson.
