An institute for Clark county teachers occurs October 9 10 and 11 at Marshall High School with demonstrations by liquid air expert Mr Rugg and lectures by Paul Belting W S Booth and E E Olcott. Public invited to observe demonstrations and seat assignments by district numbers announced.

Council Asks For More Efficient Phone Service
The city council met Monday night and voted to petition the state commerce commission for the old rate or an improved telephone system. They allowed Lloyd Pulver to install a gasoline tank and pump in front of his new office beside S Brandenstein Bros. harness shop. The treasurer will solicit property owners on Main Fifth and Locust streets and Lynn Street for paving and sewer assessments. A new Chevrolet truck was purchased for use at the light and water plant. The mayor appointed J. T. Henry of Terre Haute as city light and water superintendent, a role he has filled for the past month.

Car Hits Buggy in Marshall Saturday Evening
Bert Robinson struck a buggy carrying Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chika donz and Miss Gertrude Kruze near Al Fawley’s residence. Miss Kruze was thrown out but only minor scratches reported as two approaching cars with bright lights blinded Robinson. Vandalia schedule changes alter No. 136 to 2:25 a.m. arrivals at Marshall, five minutes earlier.

Collision Wrecks Car Completely On South Sixth Street
Joe Layton's car struck Chas Sullins in front of his home and then collided with Theodore Norton near B F Johnson's place. Layton was arrested for driving while intoxicated after authorities found a half filled white mule bottle. Layton suffered a shoulder injury. Norton was unhurt.

Norton boy suffers fractured skull in Indiana accident
Harry Norton son of Jesse Norton sustained a fractured skull after a fall from a truck three weeks earlier in Catlin Indiana. He briefly recovered to return to work at the time of a relapse and was taken to Union hospital Terre Haute Friday. An ex ray confirmed the serious condition as he remains in critical state.

The Ku Klux Klan held a parade and rally in Marshall drawing an estimated ten to twelve thousand people. The event featured a fiery cross, a sermon by Rev Richards, and a main address by Rev Jupin of Casey. Klansmen from Danville, Casey, Terre Haute, Paris, Robinson and Edgar county attendees. After the march, a class of 100 candidates was initiated near the Dick Davidson farm with about 1000 Klan members present.
