The Blackhawk district of the Wabash Valley Council held its annual meeting in Marshall. Herman Miller was elected chairman, Luther Miller and Louis Scinto were elected vice chairmen, and Edward Ellington became district commissioner. Outgoing officers included J Mort Imlay and C P German. John Thomas and Leon Tichenor attended as council leaders. A film about Philmont and Scout Ranch titled Beyond the Tooth of Time was shown and promoted to civic groups.

Boy Dies After Accidental Shooting in Casey Area
Allen Hickox aged 16 son of Mr and Mrs Warren Hickox living four miles south of Casey died from a shotgun discharge in a barnyard incident Sunday. Victor Hickox 15 another boy reportedly handled the shotgun which fired wounding Allen before aid arrived. Allen was a Casey high school junior. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Restitution church with Rev James Watkins officiating.

Mr and Mrs John B Beltz of 315 Walnut Marshall will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary November 24 with a family dinner at Tom's Cafe in Marshall. They were married November 25 1913 in Marshall. They have eleven living children one deceased twenty one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Due to Mr Beltzs ill health an open house will not be held.
