PhS home talent play dothopia benefited Marshall High School at the opera house last Friday evening. The show drew a large crowd and the chorus and solos by Miss Jacobs Miss Sloan and Miss Simmons impressed. The Pickaninnies and Goody Goody Girls provided lively comic numbers with colorful costumes and dancing. Master of ceremonies Pr R E Black or Mr Helden directed a polished program that pleased local audiences.

Reynolds was injured when his horse shied in front of Brandenstein store on Main Street Monday morning. The horse slipped, throwing Reynolds, breaking a leg and crushing the ankle. He was taken home for medical attention and confinement to bed for some time.
In Westfield Illinois on November 19 the Baptist church Ladies Aid Society husked corn in Jacov Goble’s field. The first load of 30 bushels belonged to the group. any excess would be paid at market price for shucking. Eleven ladies in light attire worked, yielding sixty bushels and an appetite for refreshments afterwards.
Morning theme is Thanking God for Memories and evening theme is The Garden of Eden. Other services as usual. A meeting of officers and teachers of Sunday school is called for Wednesday after prayer meeting.
At 6 o'clock this morning at St Mary's Church Rev Father W J Healey officiated the marriage of Patrick Prendergast and Cecilia McClelland, both of Casey. James Finn of Marshall served as best man and Lizzie Weckermann of Casey was bridesmaid. A wedding breakfast followed and the couple will reside in Casey.
Guspel Meetings start Sunday November 24 at the Methodist church with morning and evening services and nightly gatherings all week. Weeknight services run at 7 30. An invitation is extended to all. The first quarterly conference follows the gospel service Tuesday evening November 26. Rev C F Baker will preach at 7 30 that evening.
The Herald endorses H. C. Bell for the high office of Commissioner of Pensions amid Democratic favor. Bell, a Civil War veteran from Clark County Illinois, has long served in pension work and politics, including stints as Chief of the Finance Division and Deputy Commissioner. He led congressional campaigns against Cannon in 1902 and 1908 and is expected to win broad support from Democrats and Republicans alike.
Mr Will Craig served on a Federal petit jury and Mr Ay J Garver on the grand jury in Hast St Louis last week returning to Marshall on Saturday. Garver said the grand jury found many indictments, mainly bootlegging cases and three involving white slave traffic.
