Electric chimes have been installed at the Methodist church as a memorial gift from members and friends. They play Westminster chimes on the hour from eight in the morning to nine thirty at night and can be transmitted outside via the organ and a record player. Mr and Mrs Charles Simpson announce a son Glen Alan at Union Hospital Terre Haute last Sunday November 13 weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces. Mrs Simpson is Faye Arbuckle of Marshall. M/Sgt and Mrs Robert Horner announce a 7 pound 1 ounce son on November 16 their first child. Dr and Mrs Samuel Deahl announce a son at Union Hospital November 11 named Samuel Thomas. Mr and Mrs Robert Milton announce a baby girl born Tuesday at Union Hospital Terre Haute named Barbara Ann weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces.
Judge John F. Spivey of Danville opened the November term in Marshall with grand jury sworn. Foreman Howard Kuin of Marshall named as juror leader. Three tracials returned. Robert Bennett charged with forgery. two indictments against Muriel Burris, Robert Lester Richardson, John Eugene Con, and John Henry Pace on similar charges. Bennett arraigned on forgery and defense assigned Omer Shawiler. plea of not guilty entered. Eva Kile granted a divorce on desertion. she may resume surname Harper.
The Home Adviser outlines 4-H club responsibilities and aims in Illinois. Of 238 girls enrolled across 314 projects, 2289 met state achievement standards and received awards based on effort, quality, and activity, with leaders and parents urged to contact for awards.
Herman Tumey entertained Tuesday night at the Moose lodge rooms in Marshall for the birth anniversary of Mrs. Tumey. A fried chicken dinner followed by covered dishes featured attendance by Eunice Hall Curt Bradbury Terre Haute Mr and Mrs Earl Houk Indianapolis and many neighbors. Mrs Tumey received several beautiful gifts and guests reported a very enjoyable time.
The pool committee will install a children’s spray pool this fall with a 20 foot diameter steel reinforced structure. The project costs about 1 WP and includes lighting, a dedicated water line, warmer water from a new tee, non slip walks, and architectural concrete coping with smooth finishes.

Lila June, a 1953 Marshall High School graduate, works at Boesiger's Dry Goods. Stanley, a 1949 Martinsville High School graduate, is a farmer. A wedding is set for Five Points Church of Christ on Sunday November 27 at 2:00 PM.
Ex sheriff Vern Davison told Herald staff he received another pension raise. Drillers found an oil well on his 80 acre Dr Baker farm in Orange township at 850 feet last Saturday. The well began pumping Tuesday and appears to be his best yet.
In Chicago on April 4 a large gathering of 350 leaders and volunteers convened to chart ongoing cancer fight efforts. Clark County attendees included Mrs. Jule Gore Miss Berniece Brosman Marshall and Mrs. Russell Slater of Martinsville.
A heavy Tuesday night rainfall drenched Marshall with just over two inches. By Thursday morning the thermometer dipped to 20 degrees.
