Reports indicate a gang linked to Martinsville robberies may have been captured in Rockford, Indiana. Authorities say two suspects confessed to six Martinsville business robberies and that ties to Vincennes and Marshall incidents are being checked by Sheriff Milos Pearce and Martinsville police.
Judge Robert Cotton opened circuit court in Marshall last Saturday. Cases include Woodford E Ferris versus Roberta Ferris divorce granted on desertion grounds. Kathleen Durnal granted separation from Elvis Durnal with custody of Wanda Jean Durnal awarded to Mabel Rosas and another child to Frieda Durnal. Elmer Shotts versus Violet Shotts divorce granted for desertion. Violet Liffick, native of Marshall, dies in Danville.
Marshall youths Jerry Tumey age 17 Donald Ray Kendall 18 and Norman Leon Trevelove 17 enlisted in the navy on November 4 at Paris Illinois. They are stationed at Great Lakes Illinois and will have Christmas leave instead of regular recruit training leave.
Meyet Sant and family announce the birth of a daughter Susan Lynn weighing 6 pounds 8% ounces born November 3 in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Miller is the former Virginia Melton of West York. Mr. Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur ler of Annapolis Illinois. Ed Thompson and family announce the birth of a boy James Edward at St Anthony Hospital Friday their second child.
The 6th annual International Live Stock Exposition runs November 25 to December 3 at the International Amphitheatre Chicago. Richard Bennett of Martinsville and Lawrence Crandall of Oblong enter Shorthorn steers while Sherry Bennett exhibits a purebred Poland China barrow in the junior division.
Terre Haute report notes Marshall business houses close for the season with plans to reopen soon. Officials cite optional post closures and anticipated reopening in early spring.
Obituary notices report the death of Bertha Kiger 81 at Walter Kiger’s Robinson home with burial planned in Marshall Cemetery. Funeral arrangements described at Moore Funeral Home. Stephen son and Etta Hornbrook.

Mr and Mrs Samuel H Bradley Sr mark fifty years of marriage with an open house November 13 from 2 to 5 pm at 609 Plum Street Marshall Illinois. Bradley is a retired Marshall policeman and guests are invited to call friends and relatives.
Lafayette hospital records show Tvered Mibui stoke associated with a local merchandising enterprise. Mr and Mrs Runcell Craig visited Mellott Indiana and attended the National corn husking contest in Newtown. Rev J L Pellum died at his Marshall home aged 71. Kenneth Little of Warehall received an army discharge after years of service. John Stipes of Deoree spent months in the European war theatre before returning to Marshall. Lt Paul Baker was proclaimed home. Perry Pennington died last Saturday at age 77.
Ammold Tyler reports on a statewide workshop where principals and supervisors discussed curriculum making administrative research organizing personnel community planning and professionalizing the principalship. Chief consultants included Dr Fred Barnes Eric Johnson and Dr Walter Moore from Timets University and Dr George Beauchamp of Northwestern. Attendees included Marion Cranmore and Leon Weir among others. several divorce and title matters noted in supplementary items.
