State Patrolman McClellan reports six establishments were robbed 11 miles west of Wednesday night at Sraiths Recreation Hall and other sites. The thieves took little beyond money and left few other items. The incident involved no state farm or police personnel as stated by officials.
The Clark County Board of Supervisors met with all members present to discuss hiring a highway engineer. The agreement for RE J Huffington was submitted and he was employed for two years from January 1, 1954 to January 1, 1956.
Judge Robert F. Cotton of Paris opened circuit court in Marshall Friday. Cora Minor was granted a divorce from J. L. Minor on grounds of extreme and repeated cruelty. A property settlement previously made was approved by the court.
The Johnson Sisters will present an all musical service this Saturday night at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church. Sunday is closing day for the revival.
The Junior Woman's Club of Marshall will hold its monthly meeting next Monday night November 7 at Louise's Restaurant in Terre Haute. Members should call Jan Rutan or Barbera Martin to reserve, meeting at the high school at 6 30 to travel in a group. An inch collection for the Boy Scout drive will be taken alongside regular business.
The Cham ber of Commerce retail committee has contacted merchants about closing on Armistice Day. The general consensus favors closing. many stores will be closed Friday November 11th.
Gobblens attended a festive Maloween party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kemp. Guests wore manguaride costumes and included Rev. and Mrs. Delmar Redmen, Larry and Tommy, and many others listed among the attendees.
Marshall high school seniors stage the modern comedy Girl Crazy at the American Legion Auditorium on November 6 and 7. The production features characters including Jake the caretaker and Miguel Valdes with direction by Vaughn Arney and Carl Holler. Reserve seats available at Blankenships Drug Store.
The Jolly Home Makers Club met October 26 at Mrs. Mae Shade's home with Mrs. Anna H Veach assisting. Nineteen members attended a full day event with a noon dinner. Readings by Mrs. Mona Kelley and Mrs. Nettie Beachout preceded election of officers for the coming year led by President Mona Kelley and Vice President Pansy Weger. Next meeting set for November 16 at Mrs. Vada Shaffner's home.
Mrs. Martha Noyes announces the engagement of her daughter Louise to Russell Dill son of Mr and Mrs Jess Dill of Auburn The wedding is scheduled for December 24 1965.

Four seniors at Shal High School earned Merit Scholarships with potential full tuition coverage. The program, run by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, funds about 28.5 million in grants. Winners may choose any accredited college and field of study.

Local notes recall an 8 pound baby born October 24 to Mr and Mrs C L Ammon in West York. Charles Leslie Ammon is named. Mrs Elisa Jane Hurst, 85, dies near Martinsville with burial at Green Sea Myrtle. Chicago visitors Oscar Mawards and Ernest Geheb attended a family dinner for Bobby’s first birthday. Nell Murphy and others joined the St Louis social workers event in four days. Gosbre Taylor family of Mar-Gineville visited Louie Pethart and wife.
The event on Saturday November 5 promotes a town wide toy drive labeled Toy Pickup Day. Scouts and organization delegates will collect toys from 9 00 a m with Marshall merchants supplying trucks. Toys in boxes will be gathered for repairs and distribution to Marshall City and rural children at Christmas.

Chicago plans a major livestock exposition from November 25 to December 3 featuring 27 breeds and over $100,000 in prizes. The 56th International Livestock Exposition includes 14 International Horse Show performances and the grand champion steer auction on December 1. Exhibits draw entrants from nearly every state and Canada.

The Social Security Administration will relocate services in Marshall starting November 2 to the Clark County Courthouse. Paul Johns of the Terre Haute office said demand has risen and the new schedule will improve efficiency. The representative will be at the courthouse every first and third Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., replacing the former 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. window.
