Robert “Jingo” Gaddis was arrested by night police officer Charles Short on Monday for drunkenness. He appeared before Squire Craig, was fined three dollars plus costs totaling six forty, paid the fine, and was released.
Charles Williams of Detroit faced Squire Thomas Craig on a charge of robbing the Lawrence Hollenbeck and William Jeffers stores at Snyder. Jeffers surprised the thief at 4:00 a.m., a bottle was thrown causing a forehead gash, and the suspect was jailed in Marshall with bond set at 1000 dollars awaiting grand jury action next week.
Perce Stanfield is installing a meat market in his grocery on east Main street and will open tomorrow with Ben Wallis in charge. Stanfield remodels into an I G A store as part of a cooperative with over 400 member stores in Indiana and Illinois. Sanitary blue and white shelving has been installed and painted. The meat market will sit in the back while new candy cases occupy the front.
Deputy game wardens led by Lee and state officer Huff arrested 17 men at Twin Lakes Paris for violating the Game Code by hunting waterfowl before sunrise. Three defendants were released due to a complaint flaw. the rest posted bonds for November 16 hearing as wardens continued patrols in Edgar county.

Clark County Post No 90 American Legion Commander Jack Cline announces a two minute public observance at 11 00 am with city light plant whistle bells and taps. All traffic to stop and faces east until taps. Ex service men urged to assemble at the Post hall at 1 00 pm for a march to the football field.
Former Governor Frank O. Lowden appoints a church representative from each Marshall congregation to chair Near East Relief fund committees. Golden Rule Sunday is set for December 4 to aid orphans under Near East Relief care. Mrs Rebecca Dunn aged 91 died at the home of her grandson George Dunn west of Marshall Saturday morning. Funeral services were Sunday at Mt Pleasant church with Rev R C Mowery officiating. Interment Mt Pleasant cemetery. Mrs Mary Music 78 died Friday night at 7 at the home of her sister in law Mrs Crawford Richey Trimble. Funeral Monday at 1:30 at the residence with burial Oak Grove cemetery. Mrs Music was cousin to Mrs America Quick of Marshall and visited Marshall often. Jacah Weiler of Wabash township 94 died Monday at his home. Funeral Wednesday at 2 at the residence with Rev John Mundorf officiating. Survived by his wife and five sons. Interment Marshall cemetery.
Miss Nelle Warriner of Marshall and Ray Broadhurst of near West Union were married last Thursday in Rockville Indiana. The ceremony occurred in the Methodist parsonage with the church pastor officiating. Mrs Broadhurst has worked in the law office of S M Scholfield. Mr Broadhurst is the son of Mrs Thomas N Broadhurst living in West Union. They plan to live on his farm near West Union.

The regular November teachers certificate exam in Clark County will be held in the office of County Superintendent B. F. Holscher on Friday and Saturday November 18 and 19. Applicants must be at least 17 years old, report to Holscher, and for second grade certify graduation from a two year high school or equivalent with three references.

Executive committee of the Clark County Farm Bureau in Martinsville discussed stock marketing and a December annual meeting. A plan to form a Clark County Protective Association was proposed to prevent farm property theft and aid in capturing thieves, with a county wide meeting set for November 26 in Marshall at 1:00 p.m. A membership fee will fund rewards and expenses.
At a meeting held two weeks ago, Robert Prewett was elected a director and Dr. R. A. Mitchell was made president. Geo. G. Robertson, former president, has moved to Florida to attend to business interests there.
