International Live Stock Show at Clark County Fair
Hubert L Bennett and Bons of Martinsville will exhibit four head of shorthorn steers at the 57th International Live Stock Exposition in Clark County from November 28 to December 1. John C Thompson of Martinsville lists a Hereford steer entry. The event spans 10% acres in the expanded International Amphitheater near the Chicago Stock Yards, with nearly half a million visitors expected and debut of 14 International Horse Shows and a dramatic horsemanship performance.

Neighbors Harvest 5000 Bushels for Mattis Family
Ninety four neighbors gathered at a Danville area farm to harvest 78 acres of corn in four hours for the late Charles Mattis family. About 5000 bushels were picked with 20 tractors 50 wagons and 4 corn hikers assisting. A potluck dinner was held at the Mattis home serving the workers. Also noted is Edward Tumey Jr. serving aboard the U S S Snelling participating in the Sixth Fleet operation evacuating about 1500 Americans from Egypt from Alexandria to Suda Bay Crete.

The 57th International Livestock Exposition and Horse Show will run November 23 to December 1 at Chicago Stock Yards. More than 10 000 top farm animals compete for 100 000 in prizes with emphasis on carcass judging and live auction of champion carcasses. Farm youth events include 4 H judging and Collegiate Judging contests, with activities beginning the first days.
