Marshall High tied for second with Robinson in the Eastern Illinois League spring contests at Martinsville 31 points behind Westfield 43. In track Marshall earned 5 points with a second and two fourth places while the debate team placed seventh at Normal in the state league finals. The girls chorus played Terre Haute for a music festival and tomorrow commercial teams head to Casey for district contest.

Woman Injures Foot With Pitchfork in Barn Mishap
Mrs. Everett Mackee ran a pitch fork through her right foot Monday afternoon in the barn. She stumbled over a rake and fell, the fork piercing her foot. Dr. R A Mitchell treated her, and she is reported eating along nicely.

Former Methodist Pastor Dies in Bloomington
The Rev. Ernest L. Pletcher, 57, pastor of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church in Bloomington, died Saturday from cerebral meningitis after influenza. He preached in the Illinois conference for 32 years and is survived by his widow and one daughter of Carlinville. He formerly led Marshall church and was remembered locally.

May Festival The Spirit of Spring at High School
A May festival titled The Spirit of Spring will be performed this afternoon at 4:90 on the high school campus under Miss Dorothea Rose Shickel. About 300 pupils from North and South Side grades will participate with a selected high school orchestra. The program features Father Time, the Hours, the Four Seasons, Fairy Queen Imogene Coryell, and nations represented by multiple grade groups, culminating in a Maypole tableau.

Every room displayed pupils’ drawings writings clay work and spelling records with spring flowers color sketches and maps. Death notices for Mitchell Geisert in Marshall burial at local cemetery
The body of Mitchell Gelsert aged 36 died in Los Angeles on April 6 arrived in Marshall with his widow and children and brother Clifford. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM at Frank Geisert’s home south of Marshall. Burial followed in Marshall cemetery. Survived by widow Edith Geisert two sons Keith and Richard a daughter Thelma mother Emma Geisert four brothers Frank Edward Robert Clifford and sisters Olle Imle Jennie Tingley and Minnie Geisert.

Two Boys Break Left Arm While Vaulting This Week
William Taylor son of Robert Taylor broke his left arm Monday while vaulting. Frankie Drake son of Mr and Mrs Frank Drake fell Wednesday afternoon while at play at the south side school and broke his left arm.
