Prospects for High Wheat Yields in Clark County

Warren Bundy notes expected strong yields in Clark County despite septoria leaf blotch in most fields. The disease weakens plants, with yellowing lower leaves and black specks on blades, thriving on residue and volunteer wheat. Cultural controls this fall include crop rotation and deep plowing. no wheat varieties resist the blotch. A balanced fertility plan and adequate potash and lime are key, with 200 pounds of muriate of potash advised if not applied last year.
