Farmers east of West Union organized a hunt after wolves killed dogs on the Doll and Lindley farms and other properties. On Broadhurst farm Henry Wilson’s animals were attacked, three shoats killed and another injured. A drive yielded a wolf caught by Scott Strohm and a dog by Raul Henry Wilson.
Clark County Republicans met at the courthouse and elected Lowell Bennett as chairman Rayman Buechler as co chairmen Bill Savage as secretary Don Hosch as treasurer all by unanimous vote. The Clark County Democrats chose Andy Turner as chairman Dale Veach as vice chairman Mrs William Clatfelter as secretary treasurer for the next two years.
Donna Abel of Route 1 Marshall receives an art scholarship funded by the Marshall Woman's Club in cooperation with the University of Illinois. She will attend a workshop at Allerton in June after junior high and high school art training.
Money order and postal savings transactions shift to Monday through Friday. Parcel Post deliveries suspend on Tuesdays except rural routes. First class parcels and parcel post will be delivered six days a week. Don Ferris P. M.
Mr and Mrs Fenton Quick announce the birth of a daughter Rebecca Ann born April 29 at Union Hospital Terre Haute. The baby weighs eight pounds three ounces.
Dorothea Jane Johns and Robert Eugene Pound marry Friday at 7 p m at World Gospel Church Terre Haute officiated by Rev Carl Froderman Relatives and friends invited to the ceremony and reception at World Gospel Building then the couple will reside in Terre Haute after a brief wedding trip
The Lincoln Trail Riders Saddle Club held a horse show on April 19 at Ed Tumey farm Route 1 Annapolis Illinois. Winners include Hugh Fyfe Emery Shumaker and others in multiple classes such as Open Halter Male and Ladies Pleasure. Next show set for May 10 at Marshall Fair Grounds at 1 00 p m CST with invitation to attend.
Mrs. Cora B. Amarine age 83 longtime Brighton Illinois resident died at St. Luke Hospital Chicago Burial held in Brighton cemetery She was born June 10 1880 near Marshall Illinois and married John Amarine a barber The notice also mentions Mrs Earl Vargus return to Marshall after surgery and Alfred McNary’s admission for back treatment

Edward Ellington of Marshall received the Silver Beaver award at the 1964 Wabash Valley Council Boy Scouts appreciation dinner in Terre Haute. He is a longtime volunteer, district commissioner, and former WWII Army engineer, with four children and a refrigeration business in Marshall.
Minnesota based Jim Ryan of Watkins Products travels by company plane to Winona for a two day visit to the 1500 acre Watkins Research Farm located six miles southwest of Winona. The trip honors Til notes distributors for farm line product sales gains. The Marshall store serves six Illinois counties and one in Indiana with 25 staff across seven counties. Miss Judy Beltz returns home from Union Hospital Friday.
In Casey on a Saturday election 834 voters cast ballots with 630 against and 194 in favor of a federal housing proposal. Officials note the result shows opposition to increased federal involvement as residents warn of future tax costs if houses are built locally. Mention is made of Senator Paul Douglas and Representative Shipley promoting federal appropriations.
Church women of Marshall community plan May Fellowship Day at Marshall Methodist Church on Friday May 1. The 1:20 p m service includes worship study using the 1964 MFD theme One Family Under God followed by a coffee hour in the social room. Women are invited from Marshall churches to attend and participate in this national day of worship study and fellowship. Attendees are asked to bring one dozen cookies for a local Christian social relations project.
On Saturday evening April 25 the Palmer Hose in Chicago hosted the installation of Miss Cartha Renner as grand director of music for Illinois. She, daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmer Rennner, represents Bethel 85 of the International Order of Job's Daughters. Jane Pearce escorted her, with Mrs Bette Jacoby presenting a certificate to Miss Cheryl Harlow as grand representative to Arizona.
Mrs Lulu H King aged 77 died early Monday at Marshall Christian Hotel. Survived by son Harold Kintz Terre Haute brothers Schumann William Howard Don Hunter Terre Haute sister Mrs Clara Crooks Michigan City Indiana three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Wednesday at Marshall Baptist Church with Rev James R Hunter officiating burial in Marshall Cemetery Marrs Funeral Home in charge. Mrs Mary Kuykendahl age 71 died Sunday at Burnside Home Marshall. Survived by husband William two daughters Nettie Mumston Paris Illinois and Betty Cooley Marshall route 3 one sister Nellie Volkers Pierron Illinois four grandsons and one great grandson. Funeral Wednesday at Marrs Funeral Home with Res H J Kemp officiating burial in Dunlap Cemetery.
A group of women including Carol Huffington Marilyn Harper De Ann Lawrence Nancy Plew Mary Rackhous and Mrs Darrell Harlow Mrs Elmer Renner and Mrs Dean Houk attended a community gathering highlighting civic engagement and social connections in the city.
Carole Moody daughter of Mr and Mrs Stanley Moody of 1805 Hickory Street Marshall will attend a music camp at Eastern Illinois University in June as the Marshall Women’s Club scholarship recipient. She has three years of band and chorus in Marshall High School and plans to study at Indiana State College Terre Haute after graduation.
Marshall high school track enters the Wabash Valley meet in Terre Haute on Saturday May 2 after a fifth place finish at Newton Illinois in the Eastern Illinois Conference meet on Friday April 24. Lions now stand six wins three losses with standout miler Jim Wetzel finishing second in the mile and Norman Hawker third in the 440.
