Fred M. Lynn, described as from Grant Park with many Marshall relatives, was arrested Monday for stealing a pair of gold-rimmed eyeglasses from Edward Garwood. He pled guilty and received immediate sentencing to the Pontiac reform school.

William McDaniel of Johnson township and Sarah M Downey of Orange township. Mr McDaniel is 74 and his bride is 68.
Terre Haute saloon men vote to close next Tuesday to await state supreme court decision on the dry law. Some planned selling only soft drinks but Mayor Hunter warned removal of all bar fixtures.
Walter M. Edens and Miss Martha Ellen English were married Wednesday at 8 at the bride’s parents home in the presence of relatives. The couple will reside on Mr. Edens’ farm southeast of town after a brief wedding observance.

John McCourt died at his home eight miles west of West Union last Friday and was buried at West York Sunday. Funeral services were conducted in the M B church at West Union by Rev. D T Black of Marshall. He served in the U S Navy and sailed with Dewey at Manila. He studied at Boston University and traveled the world. He is survived by his wife and one eight year old son.
German assault on a 50 mile front staggers Allied lines with about a million troops in action. Casualties run high with German losses greater than Allied, as artillery and small arms fire halt the advance. Germans claim around 50 000 prisoners and 1000 cannons captured though the line holds.
Local board lists telegraphic calls for drafted men to report to university and institute commanding officers for technical schooling. The calls cover University of Chicago Lewis Institute Northwestern University and Bradley Polytechnic Institute Peoria with quotas around nine-tenths of 1 percent of the first gross quota. Induction may be voluntary until March 29 and eligibility requires white race, general military fitness, and at least an eighth grade education.

Mrs W H Beadle wife of former Sheriff Wm H Beadle died at her Auburn township home Sunday aged 77. Funeral services were held at her late home and interment followed at Blue Grass cemetery.

A county patriotic meeting will be held in Marshall next Thursday April 4. Music will be furnished and war addresses made in the Congregational church, followed by a Creole steak dinner in the church basement.
Mrs Helena Garlin a former resident of Lower Wabash died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs Mary Buchanan in Terre Haute aged 82. The body was brought to Marshall for burial in the city cemetery Saturday and funeral services were conducted by Rev John Mundorf. She is survived by her daughter and two sons.
The Republican candidate Lloyd Pulver is described as fully qualified for the Marshall township assessor post. Born on a farm and experienced in town business, he is noted as knowledgeable in live stock real estate and all property values and is described as reliable. The piece urges voters to support him.
