Thieves Have Hard Luck After Store Raid
Robbers who raided the Shuey and Rider store at Westfield Tuesday night fled in a Buick touring car stolen from Prosper Henry of Paris. The car was found Wednesday morning stuck in a mud hole near east Court street in Paris with 24 automobile tires seven rifles and shotguns four bags of inner tubes spark plugs flashlights and silverware aboard. The thieves headed toward Terre Haute where a fence for auto theft is believed located and abandoned the car near daylight after failing to free it.

Wheeler identity found in river death mystery
The drowned body recovered last May from the Wabash River near Riverton was identified last week by the sons of Isaac B. Wheeler. Wheeler, a former Marshall House clerk, was 66 and survived by four sons and a daughter. The body, found near the surface last June, was buried after identification by cuff buttons, glasses, and a pocket knife. Burial will take place in Marley, Edgar county. No details are known about the drowning.
