Kesler and Knowles of Marshall bought a registered Holstein bull from J K Wallace of Casey. The animal weighed 2460 pounds at the Knowles scale and was described as one of the largest in the county. Wallace received 100 in cash along with Silvertown items for the bull on behalf of Home Packing Company at Terre Haute.
Martha Richards of Addyston Ohio, 36, died from a skull fracture after stepping into Route 40 traffic with her eight year old son Max, who suffered a skull fracture. Driver E P Hughes, of Terre Haute, was released after a coroner ruled the accident unavoidable. The family was en route to the western coast when the tragedy occurred near Hertfelder's oil station in Weaver.
Olen R. Clements of Miami Florida, formerly with Huber Clements Blackwell in Marshall, now practices law solo. A former Marshall resident and state’s attorney, he is known to many in Clark County. his former firm dissolved and he now works independently.
Squire Thomas Craig has married five couples since last Friday. They are Mann Myers of Hidalgo and Sadie Miller of Greenup Sunday, William Hirsch of Terre Haute and Pauline Eastham of Terre Haute Sunday, W E Jensen of Gary Indiana and Bernice Furtenbaugh of Three Rivers Michigan Tuesday, Richard McDaniel of Gary Indiana and Margaret O Hearne of Hobart Indiana Monday, Burnet Stepp of Dennison and Florence Morley of West Terre Haute Saturday.

Fred Keifer, Marshall drug store proprietor and Clark County resident, runs a 35 acre Toggenburg and Saanen goat farm three miles from Marshall on Route 40. He keeps 13 does, nine kids, and a buck with nearly 50 animals raised in three years, plus about 1000 chickens and a small purebred dairy herd. Goats produce two quarts to three quarts daily for some, with milk priced 10 to 50 cents a quart. goats digest cellulose, eat clothing, shrubbery, and pine needles, making them a strong dairy option.
Homer Hill 20 and Carl Basquette 19 of Paris were injured in a Sunday dawn crash two miles east of Marshall on Livingston hill. Hill remained comatose with brain concussion while Basquette was discharged Monday. Roy Burnett 35, also of Paris, escaped injury as their Ford coupe plunged off the embankment after being blinded by an oncoming car that did not stop. Burnett fled the wreck scene. Passersby rushed the injured to hospital.

Burnet Stepp and Florence Morley. and others from Terre Haute, Casey, Gary, and Paris.
Catalogs for the 1928 Clark county fair to be held at Martinsville from August 14 to 18 are being distributed across the county. The 52 page catalog contains advertising and premium matter for the event.
Mrs B L Strohl of Paris gave the address at the Mother and Daughter banquet held Tuesday evening at 6 30 oclock in the Methodist church. About 160 women and girls attended the dinner served by church men. Mothers received roses and daughters corsages. The program featured duets by Marie Taylor and Joy Lichtenberger and several readings and songs by local performers.
Chester Creek of Darwin found a man's body in the Wabash River on June 21. Coroner W. M. Rogers of Martinsville investigated after Covington, Indiana, officials identified the deceased as Isaac N. Thorpe, 62, who had been missing since February 11. Relatives collected the body and a $100 reward had been paid for information.
Orion Sims of Paris was jailed in Marshall after a Tuesday evening auto crash about 6:00. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene without stopping. Bond set at 2500 dollars. The other vehicle belonged to Chas A. Lenz of Danville. passenger Fenton Spittler of Marshall suffered minor damage. Sims was stopped by Paris police, then returned to Marshall.
Charles S. Smith of Wilberforce Ohio received a loving cup at Wilberforce University commencement for 25 years as director of the school of commerce. Alumni noted the department’s growth under his guidance and praised his long service in the community.
Rev C P Maas of Elkhart Indiana will lead the first quarterly conference and communion at Zion church south of Marshall on July 7 and 8. The conference is set for Saturday at 7 30 p m with Sunday communion after Sunday school followed by a religious program and basket dinner.
Henry Abel travels back to Shreveport Louisiana on Tuesday with his sister Miss Tena Abel and George Caton both of Terre Haute and Harry Woods of Shreveport. Miss Abel and Mr Caton plan to return July 4.
