Livestock expert E T Robbing says the swine sanitation system improves health and reduces labor while maintaining litter sizes. Sows raising late spring pigs are turned loose with minimal direct care, fed and watered collectively, benefiting the pigs with outdoor exercise and sunlight.
Victor Reynolds reported his Standard filling station on East Main street at the Big Four crossing was broken into Thursday night between 9 30 and 10 00 and again Monday night. The first theft included $8 to $10 plus candy and gum. the second night cigarettes gum candy and about $1 50 in pennies were taken. Entry was gained by breaking a window both times.

Jesse Underwood 15 of Martinsville was held Friday in Terre Haute and brought back to Marshall by Deputy Roy Cropp and Victor Miller. He faced petty larceny charges and on Tuesday Judge Jed Gard ordered him sent to St Charles School for Boys. Clark county authorities lauded Marshall for swift action in detaining the fugitive youth.
Jamar S Larry Doyle a former Paris resident died Monday in a Bloomington Illinois hospital from a streptococcal sinus infection that began Saturday while he conducted business in Bloomington He represented Northwestern Life Insurance in Paris and was recently transferred to Chicago for his future home The funeral was held Wednesday at his father Thomas Doyle s Raymond Indiana residence
Roy V. Swope chairs the Board of Review with Thomas Craig and John Dickerson. Leon Dodd of Melrose named clerk. The board will meet weekly through August 1 and then daily until work finishes. Members earn five dollars per day. the clerk four dollars per day.
Congressman at large Henry R. Rathbone will start a weekly series of ten minute radio talks from WCFL Chicago on June 25 at 6 30 PM. The talks will air every Monday evening at the same time and continue through the summer on topics of great public interest.
Dr C D Ryerson aged 74 died at his West York home the night of June 14. Funeral services were held at his residence Saturday at 3 pm with Rev Lee Guyer presiding. Interment followed at Old York cemetery. Survived by his wife and several children. He celebrated his birthday the day of death and reportedly fell and died shortly after while getting a drink.
James Gans of York, about 650 years old, died Saturday morning while musseling on the Wabash river. Two other men saw the drifting boat and found him dead in the bottom of the craft. The body was moved to Harrisburg, Illinois, for burial.
Opal Graham Miller wife of John W. Miller died at her parents home near Dennison at 12 30 Sunday. Survived by husband one daughter Bernice two sisters Mrs Eliott of Terre Haute and Opal her twin sister two brothers Lester of Paris and Delgin of Dennison. Funeral services held Tuesday at 2 30 PM at New Providence church burial in New Providence cemetery.
George Shad aged 66 died Sunday at Anna Hospital. Body brought to Marshall Monday to sister Mrs. Kate Mundy home. Funeral services held Tuesday at 2:30 with Rev. John Qweet officiating. Burial followed in Marshall cemetery.
Roy Dooley, Illinois Journalism School graduate and veteran farm newspaper writer, has joined the Marshall Herald staff. He will aid Clark County coverage with a focus on agriculture and rural issues, drawing on experience from Watseka and Iroquois County and student work on The Daily Mini.
John Black, a University of Illinois student, earned a pendant engraved with the band emblem and his name in recognition of one year of service to the university band. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Flem R Black of Marshall Illinois.
Leonard Grable of Eldorado Dick Ubben of Pekin and Don Manley of Harvard were weekend guests of their fraternity brother Roy Baird. They plan to sail to New York for a summer in South America.
John Ford twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Ford was injured Saturday afternoon when a Hudson sedan driven by Herman Summers struck his bicycle as he darted from between parked cars in front of Fraker's garage. He suffered a displaced thumb a sprained ankle and cuts and bruises after the fall. The bicycle was damaged.
H. Perisho of Marshall was elected treasurer of Tribal Union No. 3 Improved Order of Red Men at a public meeting on June 13 in Paris. J. A. Hedrick of Martinsville was chosen president, Floyd Tobias of Paris vice-president, and B. C Dailey of Paris keeper of the records.

Terre Haute Indiana June 19 a remonstrance has been filed with the state board of tax commissioners against the paving of the road from New Goshen to the Indiana Illinois state line. Critics call the project unwise unnecessary and excessive in cost. The bond issue was set at 135 197 08 with many signers being local real estate men. The road serves Terre Haute to Paris Illinois.
Miss Clara Forbeck and Gay Spittler wed at 7:00 p m Friday in St Benedict's rectory Detroit Rev Halley officiated bride the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Forbeck of Marshall former employee of John F Cane Dry Goods Co groom son of Mr and Mrs Phillip Spicer of Marshall now works at Ford Motor Co in Detroit and they will reside there after the ceremony
Frank Barrett of Auburn driving an Overland roadster collided with an Essex coach in front of the Forrest Smith home west of Marshall Tuesday morning. Barrett said a broken steering rod caused the crash. Mrs. McAdoo and her Detroit brother escaped injury though two children sustained scratches and bruises and were treated by Dr. L. J. Weir. The Essex went to Machlan's garage for repairs.
Abe Bamesberger of the city reports a registered Holstein heifer he bought from D. W. Becker of Marshall has produced 12 775 pounds of milk in the past year.
Mrs Lillie A Kannmacher of Ander son township and Rev J A Sweet of Marshall were joined in marriage on Wednesday afternoon at 4 at Mr Sweet's home. Eld James W Dunn of Marshall read the vows. Attendants were Mrs Ruth Bartlett Mrs Myrtle Keller and Mrs Florence Kammacher. The couple planned to visit C W Sweet in Martinsville and will reside in Marshall.
Mrs Eva Kohl of Mt. Carmel fell in the hallway of her sister Mrs J T Randall's home Friday evening and broke her hip. She was taken to her Mt. Carmel home on Monday.
