Clark County Soldier Robert Grove Dies at Home in Washington
Robert Grove, a Clark County native and former member of Darwin township, died at his Chehalis area home May 11 from paralysis after a series of strokes. He served three years in the 79th Illinois Infantry starting in 1861, was wounded three times, and is survived by his wife and several children. His nephew, Robert Sweitzer of Darwin township, provided details. Grove’s family history includes brothers in the Civil War and relatives who served or died in the conflict.
