Funeral for Marella Jones Draws Gypsy Crowd
The funeral of Marella Jones from the Cooper gypsy clan was held at the Congregational church with hundreds from surrounding areas attending seeking something unusual. The service by Rev. W J Drew ended with burial in the city cemetery. Marella, born March 4 1878 in Memphis, Tenn died March 24 1913 in Rector Ark. She leaves a son George, parents Mr and Mrs Mart Cooper, four brothers and five sisters.

Cyrus Chance a 70 year old Westfield Illinois man was arrested in Indianapolis last Tuesday for loitering. A jail search yielded 1127.75 in old yellowed bills from his pockets. Chance said he saved the money over 40 years and never spent any of it.

Otho See, once of Marshall and later of Paris and Danville, was arrested Friday night at his aunt's home near Oliver by Sheriff Gallatin and Cap Shade on Vermillion county warrants. Bartha Haas accuses See of stealing three insurance policies. An earlier attempt to catch him failed. he was jailed and Danville officers pursued him Saturday.

The Vigo County commissioners approved a franchise allowing a Chicago based company to build a rail line from St Louis to Terre Haute.
