Dora Clapp wife of A P Clapp died yesterday after a long illness at Clarksville. She leaves her husband two sons Clinton and Kenneth and one daughter Mildred. Funeral services will be held in the Baptist church at Clarksville. Post mortem showed liver cancer as the cause of death.
Geo Leist of Vandalia Missouri, a Civil War veteran, says he sought treatment from Dr Holke, a German specialist, in June for chronic rheumatism. Leist, bedridden and using sticks, credits Dr Holke with rapid improvement and expresses belief in his promises.
A severe Sunday afternoon storm struck Vigo county causing lightning to burn multiple barns at the county fairground. Dozens of fine race horses valued at about 25 000 dollars were killed or injured, and local stable owners Pinley and Harlan reported four horses escaped injury.
James Ferris died after months of poor health on Tuesday morning at ten o clock. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at nine from his home in the south part of town. The service will be conducted by Rev. Chas E Taylor. An obituary will appear next week.

Ruth Fry born September 2 1835 died June 12 1913 aged 77 years 9 months and 10 days survived by one brother Frank Fry of Weather yard Okla two daughters Mrs Sarah Alice Cartwright and four grandchildren and the Findley children plus other relatives. She joined the M E church at Cleone and lived a devout life. funeral preached by Rev Thaxp Martinsville M E church and body laid in Bean cemetery awaiting the trumpet.

H C Low born Clark County April 12 1849 died at his Walnut Prairie residence June 12 1918 aged 64 years seven months and 523 days. He married Sarah Lindsey Marchal in 1875, widow Sarah A Doleen survived. two marriages produced five children with Stella predeceased him. A lifelong Christian, he joined the M E church in Martinsville, later ordained a Methodist Protestant minister at Grace Chapel Pinkstaff circuit. He retired from active ministry to upholstering and carriage furniture work in Walnut Prairie. Funeral conducted at Walnut Prairie church by F M Buckner with Beulah cemetery interment.

Dr. L. J. Weir with Coroner Hastitt exhumed the body of young Melton in Johnson township and contracted a serious infection from handling the remains. His hands were in a grievous condition for several days but doctors believe the danger has passed.
County treasurer reports Monday sale of delinquent properties raised about $1000, the smallest total in years. Despite many bidders, all properties sold at 26 percent of assessed value.

William Webster Wyrick born December 1838 in Clark County Illinois married Sarah J Fishback May 19 1860. Survived by eight children Hattie Jacob John T Nora Luella and Robert. wife predeceased him by nine years. A long esteemed pioneer, he died November 11 1913. Funeral held at M E Church Livingston with Rev. D D Burt officiating.
Jacob Laufman’s black bull dog Satan travels on Vandalia trains to Terre Haute and back each day, a famed passenger who boards without a ticket. He once tried to ride a motorcycle Friday and broke his leg.
Westfield residents M Bennett and G Messenger were driving at high speed to assist a stranded motorist when a tire flew off during a turn. Bennett suffered a broken hip while Messenger sustained two broken ribs and possible bruises.
