Roy E. Buchanan and Miss Mary Barnes both of Anderson were married Saturday at the home of Rie I C Swalm pastor of the citizen church. The couple attracted social attention as people from Anderson and nearby communities attended the ceremony and reception in Marshall.

Miss Myrna Fredenberger daughter of Mr and Mrs John Fredenberger and John Seitz son of Mr and Mrs John Seitz of Paris were married Wednesday evening at 7 30 at the United Brethren par sonage Rev K A Nelsom officiating The bridegroom works at the Goding shoe factory and the couple will reside in Paris.
Homer Guinnip's home caught fire Tuesday at noon but was extinguished before firefighters arrived and caused no damage.

Leo J. Shultz and Helen E. Roberts of Indianapolis married Saturday by Tom Craig the marrying squire. Harley Hardiman and Mamie Roberts of Terre Haute wed Tuesday by Mr Craig. Ernest Sims and Madge Hopkins of Paris also married Tuesday by Ma Craig.
The Marshall baseball team managed by R. Brockway defeated Casey 9 to 5 Monday afternoon at Casey. Five innings were played.
At the city council meeting Jos Steele received permission to erect a filling station on the corner of 14th and Main streets. A petition to gravel second street south of Main was approved. A Howe Fire Apparatus talk proposed a community engine for Marshall area protection. fire committee assigned. Discussion on paving south Fifth, north Seventh and Eighth streets produced much comment but no action.
The Mid-Continent Oil Company opened its new Diamond filling station at the Michigan avenue crossroads on Saturday. Will Craig is in charge of the station.
W. J. Goodrich, longtime Marshall resident now of Zillah, celebrated his 90th birthday at the C. Goodrich orchard home. A Civil War veteran, he commanded Company D at Vicksburg under General U. S. Grant in the 13th Army Corps. He is described as hale with many friends wishing him more birthdays.
J S Mundy started three horses Buddy Harvester Elsie Mesrobe and Comet Stevens in races at Brazil Monday. Buddy Harvester won second in trot Elsie Mesrobe won third in trot and Comet Stevens won second in pace. Mundy recently bought Mary Coffey from Murphysville Tennessee who has a 2.08 percent record.
The July term opens Monday in the courthouse with Judge S Murray Clark presiding. The docket lists 9 criminal, 18 common law, and 66 chancery cases, involving numerous defendants and plaintiffs from Terre Haute Paris Shelbyville Anderson and other Indiana cities.
Brandenstein Bros. have a large new sign painted on the west side of their Main street building. Bruce Thompson of Casey did the work. The sign promotes their own Stick-Rite cement product in orange and white.
