Head-on Collision Near State Line Involving Three Vehicles
A morning head-on crash east of Marshall on U.S. 40 involved two semi trailers and a car. Philip E. Curran and Ronnie Tagleman, both of Indianapolis, were taken to Union Hospital Terre Haute in satisfactory condition after Curran allegedly fell asleep and crossed into the eastbound lane. The Marathon Oil truck and the Strickland Truck were not injured, though the Strickland vehicle incurred minor damage.

Motion to Strike Denied in Coles County Election Contest
A county court hearing in Coles County denied the motion to strike in the Kile Mac Whert er versus Harold Turner contest over the November 6 election. Judge William J Sunderman ordered a $500 costs bond within ten days and approved by the County Clerk. The case stems from precinct three in Marshall where 73 ballots were miscounted.

Returning Home Soon Planning for 1963 Clark County Fair
Sp 4 James R. Buckner of the 693rd Engineer Co United States Army stationed at Kaiserslautern Germany has toured hospitals and will return home to Marshall in a few days. The Clark County Fair Association met January 16 to review 1962 finances and set the 1963 dates August 4 through 9. Norma Cline reported 3,193 entries with $40,359.87 in premiums. division 2 had 318 entries with $10,126 in premiums. Total receipts were $70,283.26 and expenditures $66,339.39. Miss Elaine Goekler, Miss Clark County Fair 1962, will compete for Miss Illinois State Fair 1963 in Springfield January 27–28 with 52 contestants.

Curtain Placed at Marshall High From Alumni Donations
Thirty years ago in 1933 a new curtain was set in the Marshall high school assembly room funded by alumni from the oldest class of 1881 and the largest class of 1914. Guests included Mrs. Forsythe and family and Captain Sam Payne of Jefferson Barracks. L. F. Weaver died at his son William Weaver’s home early Tuesday.

Conservation District Sets Fourth Annual Banquet at Tom's Cafe
The Clark County Soil and Water Conservation district will host its fourteenth annual banquet at Tom's Cafe in Marshall on January 21 at 6 30 pm. The event includes an election of two directors, a business meeting, an accomplishments report, and a main address by Henry J. Wallace. Wallace, a Oklahoma native, former rural teacher and principal, served as a private to first lieutenant 1942 46 and in Korea 1951 52, now living in Crossville Illinois with his wife and son. He engages in Boy Scouts of America and the Wabash Valley Association and spends many nights or days traveling for these activities, sees them as key community development groups in the Wabash river basin. A. W. Pigg Dies Suddenly While Working Near Marshall
A. W. Pigg a 57 year old water well contractor from Terre Haute died of a heart attack while working in a sump at the Robt Milton residence three miles east of Marshall. His body was taken to Marrs Funeral Home in Marshall for an inquest to be conducted by Clark County coroner Don Hosch.
