Herbert Whitaker of Gary Indiana was fined five dollars and costs totaling five forty by Squire Tom Craig on charges of violating stop sign ordinances. Whitaker was arrested Sunday by Officer J W Yallacs and ordered to report to Squire Craig Monday.
Twenty five people attended the Dairy Short Course meeting at Marshal Township High School Tuesday evening. E E Pifer of Palestine spoke on dairying stressing three essentials for success: good cows proper care and ample high quality feed. Next week Carleton Trimble of Trimble will discuss improving the dairy herd using purebred sires. The Clark County Farm Bureau will present three films on the topic.
The Eastern Star Chapter and the Masonic Lodge of West Union held a joint installation Tuesday evening. Ivan Cline was installed as master for the Masons with Roscoe Richards and Roy Dickerson as wardens. Marshall attendees included Mrs Walter Cork and numerous local residents.
Rev R. C. Mowery of the Christian church presided at several weddings last week. Jerome Herring of Farrell and Alice Juanita Davis of West Terre Haute wed Saturday. Hubert Hawkins of Stineville and Wretha G. Lindley of Mellette wed Saturday. Robert D. White of Melrose township and Mildred Wallace of West Union wed Wednesday. John Wringler of Ariola and Leah Sutton of Charleston wed Wednesday.
Charles Fox of Willow Hill and Esco Robinson of Oblong joined in marriage by Squire Tom Craig Saturday. Michael Baker and Helen Smith both of Marshall wed by Craig Saturday. Eugene Hammond of Darwin and Edith Berry of Marshall also wed by Mr. Craig Saturdays proceedings.
Clifford Cork and Miss Bessid Tapscott of near Livingston were married Saturday evening at Black's Hotel at 8:00 PM with Rev. D. T. Black officiating.

Washington December 27 1927 the year 1928 will mark the first change in size of U S paper money since 1861. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing will print smaller one two and five and ten and twenty notes for issue next fall with old ones retired. Designs will be standardized and portraits placed to match back engravings to deter raising values. The change aims to save about two million dollars annually and increase print capacity by fifty percent.
Miss Lena Sheets of Marshall and Edward Wilson of Gary Indiana wed at noon Christmas day in a double ring ceremony at the bride’s mother Mrs Mary Sheets home. Rev R O Mowery officiated with Irene Sheets and F K DAngelo as attendants. The couple depart for Gary where Wilson works as a milling company timekeeper.
Marriage licenses issued today include Frank Burroughs 21 Newport farmer and Ruby Mathas 19 West Union IL at home. Lloyd Weaver 21 Mardpall MI to Dorothy Martin 21 Dennison IL at home.
The Clark County Post No 90 distributed 108 baskets for Christmas delivering food and gifts to eastern Clark county homes. Marshall residents helped by filling baskets and contributing funds totaling 5050 dollars, about ten more baskets than last year. The committee was chaired by Fred Moore with Leroy McNary and Frank Meehling.
Miss Lucille Sockler and Everett Smitley united in marriage at the Evangelical church in Marshall with Rev D A Kroft officiating. An elegant double ring ceremony featured bridesmaid Miss Lavonna Millard and best man Harry Sockler, with music by cousins Helen Coldren and Rosmond Coldren. A reception followed in the church basement as the couple begins new lives with Smitley departing soon for Washington DC. Out of town guests from Terre Haute Fort Wayne Hutsonville Levington Champaign and Wabash attended.
Everett Clark and Cordelia Monk both of West York wed by Squire Tom Craig Wednesday morning in a quiet ceremony.

Two Big Four trains passing through Marshall will be discontinued January 2, making tomorrow their last run. No 4 northbound at 9 05 A M and No 19 southbound at 5 32 P M are retired, leaving four trains on the line with schedules for morning and afternoon runs.
Albert Myers age 65 died at his home west of Marshall Saturday morning at 7 30. Funeral was held Monday at 1 30 at the residence with Father J A M Wilson officiating. Interment in Highland Lawn Cemetery Terre Haute. Survived by wife a daughter Miss Ernestine Myers and a son Albert Myers of Martinsville three brothers W H Myers John Myers of Terre Haute James Myers of Pittsburg and a sister Mrs Frank Reese of Terre Haute.
The Mapper Grandmother musical comedy will be presented at the Pythian Theatre on January 12 and 13. Miss Frances Griffin of Atlanta will direct the cast of local talent, sponsored by the Marshall Camp of Royal Neighbors.
