Howard Files' Contest Shifts House Balance in 34th District
Contested returns claim two Democrats and one Republican should sit in the 34th senatorial district instead of two Republicans and one Democrat. Republicans Drake and Green and Democrat Purdum were originally elected. A Coles County tally error could replace Green with Howard, while the state canvassing board declares Howard elected and notes possible Green contest.
