The Livingston Methodist church will be dedicated with a 11 a m service by Rev W D Fairchild D D and a 2 pm service by Rev C W Hamand of Marshall A basket dinner will be served at noon all are invited to attend and bring baskets of dinner.

Miss Genevieve Ralston wed Victor Everett Taubeneck at the bride’s home on Sixth Street in West Union. The ceremony was by Rev C W Hamand with guests from several states. The couple plan to reside on Taubeneck’s farm near West Union after the service.
The Clark county Board of Review raised the assessment of producing oil properties by 100 percent after talks with major oil producers and their attorneys. Oil wells previously valued at 270 dollars full cash value will yield about 12 000 to 15 000 dollars annually. Tank farm near Martinsville kept unchanged. Mortgages not previously filed for taxation were investigated. None of the township assessments were altered.
Dewey Montgomery and the Misses Audrey Davis and Ruby Kleinman rode an auto-truck Sunday afternoon. Speeding north on Michigan avenue they swung a sharp corner near the city plant and the two girls were violently hurled to the ground. Davis broke her left leg above the knee and Kleinman sustained severe internal injuries along with extensive bruising.
The Martinsville community mourns 19 year old Clay Kettring son of Mr and Mrs John Kettring who died by suicide in a barn beside his family farm. Authorities note mental strain and heavy responsibility may have contributed. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of God Bethel with Rev C W Crisman and Rev J Lehman.
Dr. R. A. Mitchell returned to the military camp at Charlotte North Carolina after a visit here to receive a commission as captain in the medical corps. His many friends here are pleased by the promotion.
Judge Walter Brewer of Toledo has bought a Paris home and will relocate his family to that city immediately.
Thirteen Clark county men completed a specialized auto shop course at Kansas City’s Rahe Auto School on August 12. They will report to military camps with rank of sergeant as they begin assignments at Camp Taylor in Kentucky, Camp Johnston in Florida, and Camp Holabird in Maryland.
The Melrose township Sunday school conven tion is set for Aug 25 at 2 30 PM in Potter's Hall. The program includes devotional by Rev Chester Hix welcome by Chas Hedges and talks on religious education and evangelical work by local ministers and county officers. Funeral services for Mrs James McCullough will be held tomorrow in Nevins Edgar county.
The Community Club cancels the planned centennial celebration and fall festival announced for late August, stating that funds and effort will be redirected to war work due to high demands for service.
Dan LeGore writes from southern France about life near Bordeaux in late July and early August. He notes heat, poor water, scarcity of food such as meat and sugar, and limited bread available only on government rations. He describes an old Napoleon era camp, local women driving carts, and a Y M C A contact from Clark county.
Provost Marshal General Crowder ordered a special registration on Saturday August 24 for all youths who turned 21 since the last June 5 registration. About 150000 men will register to join Class 1 for September draft calls. Exemptions apply only to those in military service. Aimed to quicken manpower as the army seeks replacements. Registrants must report to Local Board at 60734 East Main Street between 7 am and 9 pm.
