A young man asked night officer Henry Dietzel not to shoot during a post office break in while seeking a federal charge to enter prison. Lee Starr 23, said his mother lived in Granite City Illinois and he was registered from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He had just been released from a two year safe blowing sentence in Atlanta Georgia. State hospital actions follow. Mrs Florence Sandy of Westfield recommitted to Anna Illinois hospital for the insane. New circuit court cases listed include Bennett v Bennett and Daughetee v Daughetee. Leland and Victor Rollings of Wabash township arrested on a charge of attempted rape near Mt Moriah church with $250 bonds each.

Registration spikes with 45 new registrants in county
The county counted 45 youths turning 21 since June 5 as new registrants. They received questionaries on Monday and will be examined for immediate active service. The list includes Bartlett Russell M to Wheeler Roy and covers many towns including Martinsville Casey and Dennison. The draft law requires registration of men aged 18 to 45 with a Sept 5 date in each voting precinct and assigns local registrars. Also notes grain yields: wheat 24-40 bushels per acre and oats 50 bushels per acre on Grand Prairie.

Wreck Delays Freight Train Near Station
Friday morning a Big Four freight train halted south of the station. The engine ran to the water tank and, returning quickly, collided with the halted cars, smashing two box cars and causing a near street crossing collision.

Word reached here of William B. Henry death in the state hospital for the insane at Peorth. He was sent from Walnut Prairie twenty six years ago and had no known relatives in the county.

Death by Own Action Shatters Dolson Farm Family
Andrew Connerton a 35 year old farmer seven miles northwest of town in Dolson township died Friday morning from a self inflicted gunshot wound. He had been mentally distressed and ill recently. His wife found him dead in their bedroom after milking. Survived by wife and one child. Also noted is L Mayfield of Casey who died of wounds in France and Benjamin F. Piersall arrested in Terre Haute for stealing two automobiles. Piersall 28 formerly telegraph operator at Homer tower.

Man Dies During Harvest Field Work in Clarksville
William Henry Johnson of Clarksville collapsed while threshing clover on David Lutz’s farm. He was pronounced dead by the coroner with heart disease listed as the cause. Aged 60, Johnson managed the Clarksville telephone switchboard and is survived by his wife and nine children.

First Aeroplanes Over Marshall In British American Circus
A squadron of nine American and three British planes toured Marshall on Saturday with seven Curtis bi planes and two De Havilands en route from Indianapolis to St Louis.
