County Superintendent B F Holscher selected Glenn Barbee and Kenneth Walker of Westfield to attend the Boys State Fair school in Springfield from August 20 to 27. Prof Harold Bright chose Royal Mann Wayne Brock Jones and Kenneth Lamb for the program. Holscher will accompany the group and assume duties as assistant superintendent for the 18th congressional district at the school.
One day teachers institute will be held in the court room in Marshall starting at 9 00 o clock next Wednesday. County superintendent B F Holscher says it will be pet acquainted day and all Clark County grade and rural teachers are required to attend. Supplies for the year will be distributed then and Holscher invites high school principals teachers and superintendents to attend.
The Veach family held its fourth annual reunion at Martinsville fair grounds on Sunday with about one hundred relatives and friends. A noon outdoor basket dinner followed a short business meeting planning the 1928 reunion to be held in Paris Illinois. Additional attendees from Danville Brazil and Chicago joined current and former residents across several households.
Mrs. Caroline Claypool aged 74 died at her son Leroy Claypool’s home in Robinson last Thursday. Funeral services were held at her Marshall home Saturday at 2 o clock with Rev Howard Leach officiating. Interment followed in York Cemetery.

The Emanuel Claypool building housing the Frank Meehling grocery store is being repainted red with white trim. Paul Clatfelter and Hurley Findley are carrying out the work.
A marriage license was issued in Paris Illinois for William Lee Martin 24 of Bloomingdale Indiana and Shirley Thompson 20 of Marshall Illinois on last Monday.
George Fesser Jr resigns as manager of the Kroger Grocery and Baking Company store in Marshall and returns to Nokomis Illinois. Paul Roberts of Terre Haute arrives Thursday to fill the vacancy at Marshall.
James Bohn, 19, son of Mr and Mrs Garfield Bohn of Farmersburg Indiana, drowned Sunday while swimming the Kankakee River Narrows across from Hutsonville. His brother attempted rescue but failed. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Darwin church with interment in Darwin cemetery.
Dr King died Sunday morning at Morris Methodist Church in Indianapolis after a stroke during a sermon. He had served five years as superintendent of the Indianapolis district and was filling in at Morris church. Funeral services were held in Indianapolis and his body buried in Marshall.
Excitement in Marshall after oil sands were struck at 2110 feet in a well on the Welch farm operated by Balzaar Bubeck. Specimens drew crowds as enthusiasts predicted the well might surpass Indiana wells. Perce Cox, involved in the drilling, had no information on the outcome at this stage.
Prof. F. G. Edwards and his family from Marseilles arrived Wednesday evening to visit friends in Marshall.
Miss Myrtle Kile age 29 died by hanging in the Terre Haute home of Mrs. Spencer F Ball. The body was found by housekeeper Mrs Oscar Zimmerman who arrived to let in a plumber and had learned Miss Kile stayed the night after spending Tuesday with her cousin. The death is reported with no motive found.
Clyde H. Knowles sold three car loads from his own feeding and three from purchases near Marshall to the Home Packing Company and Valentines at Terre Haute. The six cars brought in $9,000.00.
Squire Thomas Craig joined in marriage Enos Akers and Sarah Roger both of Casey at his office Friday in a private ceremony.
Plans for the annual Clark County Farm Bureau picnic are shaping up with A B Apple coordinating. The event next Thursday at Fairview Park Casey will feature music by the Casey band and speakers including F M Higgins and Carleton Trimble, with Dr Heironymous from the University of Illinois expected to attend. Activities include two baseball games, horseshoe pitching, milking contests, dairy judging, hog calling, chicken races, and a prize for the oldest farming couple.
E. B. Hurst had a valuable pure bred Jersey bull killed by a tourist on the highway near his home east of Marshall Tuesday. The bull was being driven to the Hurst barn lot after purchase. The driver had public liability insurance and the price of the bull will be given to Mr Hurst.
